Trevellas Porth

0.6 miles

Our beautiful local beach is a 10 minute walk down the road and has a sand and pebble beach at low tide with extensive rock pools full of sea life. Swimming is not recommended as there are no lifeguard services, however it is a popular beach for kayaking, snorkelling and fishing when the sea is calm.

At low tide, it is possible to walk over the rocks to neighbouring Trevaunance Cove in St Agnes, which has a pub, beach shop and cafe overlooking the beach. There are numerous walks along the coastal path to Perranporth or St Agnes as well as inland walks along Jericho Valley and beyond. Dogs are allowed off-lead on the beach throughout the year.

St Agnes & Trevaunance Cove

2.4 miles by car / 1.3 miles by foot

St Agnes village is 2.4 miles away by car, closer via the cliff path or over the rocks from Trevellas beach (when the tide allows).

The picturesque village has an old church, a range of restaurants, pubs and cafes along with a good choice of shops, including grocers, greengrocers, butchers, bakery, fishmonger (selling locally caught produce), newsagent and chemist and, of course, surf shops! There is a post office, cashpoint, doctors, dentist and even a veterinary surgery. Local arts, crafts and jewellery shops can be found both in the village and along the road to the beach.

The local museum is free and has some excellent displays. St Agnes is a popular destination for surfers and has seasonal lifeguard services.

Perranporth

2.4 miles

Perranporth is a short drive by car or about an hour’s walk from the campsite along the beautiful costal path. The 3 miles of sandy beach with seasonal life guard services make it a popular beach for a range of land and water based activities. There are numerous surf schools and places to hire equipment, wet suits etc. The village offers a full range of services plus numerous small shops, a supermarket, cafes, pubs, restaurants, post office, cash points etc. The flat nature of the village with its wide pavements and raised crossing areas make it ideal for families, people with walking difficulties and wheelchair users.

The Miners Arms

1.4 miles

The Miners Arms in Mithian is a traditional Cornish pub and is a 30 minute walk from the campsite. It was run in the mid 19th century by my great-great-great-grandfather, William Mitchell, who was also involved in local smuggling activity (allegedly).

The Driftwood Spars

2.4 miles by car / 1.3 miles by foot

The Driftwood Spars is located close to Trevaunance Cove in St Agnes. They provide homemade food using locally sourced produce, proper Cornish ales and even have their own brewery. It is a 30 minute walk from the campsite via the coast path.

The Peterville Inn

2.6 miles by car / 1.4 miles by foot

The Peterville Inn in St Agnes offers a modern pub dining experience with a warm Cornish atmosphere.

Taphouse

2 miles by car / 1.4 miles by foot

The Taphouse in St Agnes offers a laid back and casual dining experience. They provide live music and have a large selection of draught lagers and spirits.

Truro

The cathedral city of Truro is 8 miles away and can be reached by car or local bus services. It has many independent shops and specialist shopping areas along with the usual high street names. There is a Farmer’s Market twice a week and a full program of events throughout the year. Boat trips run from the city to various destinations along the Fal River. You can simply ‘cruise’ or spend a few hours in Falmouth before returning via boat or branch line train to Truro.

Other attractions

Should you wish to venture further afield by car, the campsite is ideally placed for accessing most places in Cornwall. The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Maritime Museum, Tate St Ives, Flambards and numerous National Trust Properties and gardens are less than an hour’s drive away.
